Latvia Logistics Tour 2008
The Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) is organizing Latvia Logistics Tour 2008 on September 26th, 2008. It organized a similar tour in June-July 2006, which focused on the transport service provided by Latvian ports and other transportation facilities, particularly the railway and road transport from Latvian ports to Russia and CIS countries. In line with the phenomenal development of Russia many Western and Japanese companies have been expanding their business in these countries. As a result we have witnessed the rapid increase of goods transported to these countries. We believe that the land route from Latvian ports to these countries is under-utilized and there is a large room for development.
We are inviting Western and Japanese companies, manufacturing companies, i.e., owners of cargoes, and their affiliate transportation companies to attend the Tour. We are also inviting the local transportation companies operating in Latvia.
Mr. Ainars Šlesers, Minister of Transport and other representatives of the Ministry of Transport of Latvia and other representatives from the public sector will explain the existing conditions of the route and its future possibilities. The representatives of several local transportation companies will introduce their service and their future prospects. We hope that the Seminar will offer opportunities for owners of cargoes and local and international transportation companies to meet with each other and start negotiations for concrete business deals. 2. Promotion of contacts
The following materials will be prepared and distributed in order to promote contacts among participants.
(1) List of names of participants, their companies, contact details and company profiles
(2) Name tag
(3) Table card
(4) Company pamphlets
Please send 25 copies each of pamphlets of your company to Ms. Liana Sarma of LIAA (please see point No. 7 below) by Friday, 19th September 2008. The pamphlets of international participants may be collected at the time of registration.
3. Hours of contacts
Participants are encouraged to introduce to and liaise with each other at the time of registration, coffee break and lunch time. Local participants may attend the Seminar for the lengths of all presentations, part of them or join it only during these hours of contacts. They may also join the visit of Riga port in the afternoon. So, please indicate your idea of attendance in the attached application form. International participants will stay at Islande Hotel. Those international participants who will stay one more night on Friday, 26th, may have time for contacts in that evening.
Utmost care is requested in order not to disturb speakers and listeners during the sessions.
4. Expenses for participation:
The Seminar (coffee, lunch), the afternoon tour and the sightseeing tour are free of charge.
5. Seminar language:
English.
6. Sightseeing of Old Riga
A guided sightseeing tour of Old Riga for about two hours will be organized for those participants interested on Saturday, 27th September. Local participants may also join the tour.
