The Toshiba notebooks, equipped with Intel® Centrino® 2 Duo processor technology, will be used by Ducati in the MotoGP World Championship
Breda, 12 juni 2009 – The Computer Systems Division of Toshiba Italy and Intel announce their two years sponsorship agreement with Ducati Racing for the Team engaged in the MotoGP World Championship.

As per the agreement, Toshiba and Intel will supply Ducati Racing with their innovative technology solutions offering high mobility computing power. Toshiba will supply its Tecra R10 and Tecra S10 notebooks equipped with the best Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor technology, which will be used by the MotoGP Team to monitor its motorbikes’ electronics before and after races.

Toshiba’s Computer Systems Division is a global leader in mobile computing solutions. Quality, performance, design, reliability and technological innovation: the Toshiba notebooks have all of this, and much more. By investing in R&D, Toshiba constantly creates innovative and extremely reliable products that stand out for their high performances. These features were the reason for Ducati’s choice, which was looking for a trustworthy partner at the forefront of technology to monitor electronics and data analysis during races.

Safety, robustness, durability, data protection and maximum connectivity are key requirements for businesses, especially the Ducati Racing Team. For this reason, Toshiba Tecra family integrates the innovative EasyGuard technology - a set of hardware and software utilities - to maximize investment returns. Toshiba EasyGuard is the best solution to ensure high data safety, advanced system protection and connectivity. The main system components of the Toshiba notebooks are protected from knocks, drop or accidental spilling of fluids thanks to their 3D motion sensors, Spill Resistant Keyboard, magnesium case and special Shock Protection design.

What’s more, the higher popularity of mobile computing might threaten data stored in PCs: the Toshiba EasyGuard solution, thanks to special software and hardware, answers the growing demand for safety, authentication, data and system integrity. In conclusion, thanks to Toshiba’s ConfigFree™ software, Toshiba notebook users can easily and quickly configure network connection, solving possible problems, and memorize a whole series of settings.

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo technology processor for notebooks offer outstanding computing power levels to implement simultaneously threaded applications. The Intel® Core™ 2 Duo notebook processors are designed to provide high performances, simultaneously ensuring great efficiency and energy savings, which translate into an extended life of batteries. Intel’s advanced micro-architecture makes all these features available in a small space and at a low weight: two requirements that can make the difference in a demanding and dynamic activity such as a top racing team’s.

“Technology plays a key role in MotoGP and Superbike races. We are convinced that our notebooks will be strategic for the Ducati Team,” said Javier Pascual, Country Manager at Toshiba Italy and Regional Vice President Mediterranean Area at Toshiba Europe GmbH. “Thanks to its R&D investments, Toshiba’s mobile computing solutions offer the best technology available on the market.”

Dario Bucci, Managing Director Italy & Switzerland at Intel, commented: “Performance, reliability and innovation are fundamental to Ducati Racing’s success, as well as to Intel’s. We are therefore proud that our flagship mobile technology serves a celebrated Team representing Italy’s excellence in motor sports. This partnership confirms Intel’s commitment to flank the most innovative businesses of the Made in Italy.”

“We are very satisfied of working together with Toshiba and Intel,” declared Filippo Preziosi, General Manager at Ducati Racing. “The Ducati Racing Team was in search for reliable partners offering state-of-the-art technological solutions, especially in environment like a circuit; we are sure that the Toshiba notebooks equipped with Intel processor technology are the best solution.”
