ASIST BVBA, the Belgian subsidiary of the Softline Group, an IT specialist focused on cloud enabling, succeeded in securing two orders from international government institutions. In Kuwait, a pilot project for the modernisation of an important operational IT application is being implemented. In addition, an IT migration project is being implemented in Slovenia.
Pilot project for Kuwait government institution
Softline AG has secured an order from a Kuwait government institution via their Belgian subsidiary ASIST. The customer’s existing and outdated COBOL/CICS application is being replaced by a modern EGL solution, which is considered to be IBM's leading programming language for operational applications. There will be created an interface whereby users are integrated via the internet. It is the intention to increase the attractiveness of the government institution, especially to young developers. The measures represent the first phase of an envisaged complete modernisation of the customer's IT infrastructure. The new application represents one of the most important Enterprise IT applications. Therefore the customer has assigned pilot status to the project, which emphasizes the high importance of the services provided by ASIST. The implementation started on 20 April 2013 and the work must be completed by 30 June 2013. The size of the project lies in the mid-five-digit euro range.
IT Migration project with Slovenian Government institution
The Softline Group has also signed a contract with a Slovenian government institution for an IT migration project via their subsidiary ASIST. IBM will cooperate as a partner in the project for the synchronisation of systems originating from the USA with the concrete requirements of the customer. Furthermore, an adaptation of the mainframe installation will be performed, whereby an interface for Web 2.0 applications will be created. This order comprises a project size of just below a six-digit euro amount.
With these secured orders, the Softline Group again confirms their comprehensive, integrative solutions across platforms, which they use as a manufacturer-independent consultant to achieve significant added value for their customers. "The new projects of our subsidiary ASIST are yet further proof of the significant implementation competence of the Group of Companies, because IT components of operational importance for the customer must sometimes be modernised within a short period of time. In addition, the orders secured in Kuwait and Slovenia also demonstrate our capability to operate at an international level", explains Sokrates Koutounidis, Director of Softline AG.
