The HERAS iGate – Major success in the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2011
[Netherlands] The iGate from HERAS and WeLL Design clearly convinced the judges: in the red dot design award, one of the most renowned international product competitions, the sliding gate has now been awarded the "red dot" seal of quality for high design quality by the jury with its panel of highly respected experts. More than 1,000 guests from the world of design, industry, society and media will celebrate the winners of the red dot design award on 4 July 2011, which traditionally takes place in Essen’s opera house, Aalto Theater. The iGate will then be put on public display during a four-week special exhibition in the red dot design museum.
iGATE targets premium architectural environments and sets the new standard in design, functionality and security. The soft and welcoming design of the frame with it’s integrated safety lights gives the visitor of any headquarters the right impression immediately. The monumental column is a statement on its own as it demonstrates security and the pride of the company. The well balanced lightweight structure and the use of aluminium ensures the high-tech gate’s outstanding performance and it’s environmental friendliness. Next to the free choice of colour of the frame and the filling, illuminated by colour changing LED's, there is a large choice of frame fillings for the architect, from conventional beams to artistic patterns in perforated plating, adapting to any kind of architecture. The possible dimensions of the iGATE range from 6 to 12 meters in length and 1.20m to 2.50m in height.
iGATE is a co-creation of HERAS and WeLL Design, design by Mathis Heller of WeLL Design.
"As always, our jury cast a very careful eye over the products submitted. Design quality has asserted itself clearly in the judging process, with genuine and new creative solutions also being rewarded. Both of these criteria are not just yardsticks for good design, but also for the potential for success on the market. This potential is increased several times over by the targeted use of our renowned design award", says Professor Dr. Peter Zec, the initiator of the red dot design award. This year, designers and companies from 60 countries entered 4,433 products in the red dot award: product design.
